After photographs surfaced in June of Keanu Reeves glumly munching a sandwich, the Internet leapt to cheer him up. A Photoshopped Sad Keanu suddenly began confabbing with Queen Elizabeth, storming the beaches of Normandy, picnicking with a bear. Conceptually, it was no more than a digital "Where's Waldo?," but it was "Where's Waldo?" with creativity and surprising heart.

That about says it all. ;)

I'm so proud of you guys! I wanted to participate in this crucial countdown to Sad Keanu FTW, but I've been offline since my last post. I'm so glad that you rose to the challenge and voted Our Man to victory. Now we'll just have to wait for the 2010 Mashable Awards, which will take place during the International CES convention on January 6 in Las Vegas. It will be streamed live, so we'll get to watch it as it unfolds.

I'm now on the South Coast of Norway, staying with my parents for the holidays while slowly getting organized at my new home in a little village named Rykene http://kea.nu/41l, 40 kilometres east of here.

I'm hoping to get my computers up and running and online pretty soon, but I'm going to have to use a cellphone-based network because little Rykene is somewhat internet-challenged. So I'll have to settle for a much slower speed (*ohnoes!*) than I had before. So whether I will actually get to see the live streaming of the Mashable Awards remains to be seen.

Not that I think Keanu will attend, but still... ;-)

Reviews: 0 Wow! I'm online at my new place, and now that my big sis is back at her place again I can **finally** start updating myself on everything Keanu since before Christmas. Much longed-for, I can assure you.

Tomorrow, January 6th, is the 2010 Mashable Awards Gala, where Keanu will be announced as the winner of the Best Internet Meme, thanks to us all (applause and patting of self's back). My cellphone internet connection probably won't allow me to watch the event live online, but Keanu won't be there anyways so I guess I'll survive.

On a totally different note, I'm *so* glad to be back on the net. I guess I *am* addicted. Then again, maybe it's just that I don't ever watch tv, so I have enough time on my hands to be online.

Oh, and happy, happy new year, all!

I just checked out the results of the Mashable Awards on their website, naturally expecting Sad Keanu to be listed as the winner of the Best Internet Meme category.

Imagine my surprise when instead the winner was the Bed Intruder Song (http://mashable.com/2011/01/07/mashable-awards-2010-announcing-the-winners/).

Again: WTF??

Did we not vote Sad Keanu to a total of more than 40% of the votes, and did not Strutting Leo come in at a close second?

Again, emphatically: WTF???

Reviews: 0 Yes, being deprived of the net AND moving myself, my three dogs and all my worldly possessions almost 400 kilometres from the "inner Eastland" of Norway back to the south coast, where I grew up. I've not been quite myself since I started packing -- actually, not since I started advertising for a new place and came to realise that I couldn't find anything affordable within the Eastland region before my lease expired.

People on the south coast are more relaxed and less greedy: it's typical for Eastlanders to charge as much rent as they can possibly squeeze out of people, while Southlanders are a relaxed sort who think greed is unethical and too time-consuming. :-)

Now I just hope I can find an interesting job. The downside of the somewhat old-fashioned Southland is that companies are typically rather small and mostly male-dominated. Lots of light industry and agriculture, and few knowledge-based companies. Women typically work in the health sector or public offices, where the hours are long and the pay is crappy.

Oh well. I'll just have to wait and see what pops up.
